Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. in York, PA is seeking a Forklift Operator to efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight on a dock. This role requires the use of pallet jacks and forklifts, and adherence to safety policies.

You'll work afternoons, with full health insurance starting day one, life and disability coverages, PTO up to 13 days in year one, 9 paid holidays, a 401(k) with company match and education assistance. This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position.

Qualifications

• Preferred dock/warehouse experience in transportation.
• Forklift experience in freight or LTL environments.
• Experience loading and unloading trailers.
• Strong attention to detail and drive to succeed.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use palm- or motorized equipment, including pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work safely and adhere to company safety policies.
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
• Work on a dock not climate-controlled for extended periods.

What you'll need to succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
