Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to join our dock operations. You will efficiently move palletized freight, operate forklift and pallet jack, and secure loads inside trailers to keep shipments on time.

The role requires 18+ years of age, basic math skills, and availability for days, evenings, nights and weekends. We offer health insurance from day one, life and disability insurance, 9 paid company holidays, PTO, a 401(k) with company match and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight efficiently.
• Operate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work on a dock not climate-controlled for extended periods, following safety policies.
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Forklift Operator at XPO

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Able to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
• Available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred qualifications:

• Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry
• Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment
• Experience loading and unloading trailers
• Strong attention to detail and desire to succeed

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack and forklift
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
• Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods

Forklift Operators are required to:

• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally greater than 70 lbs.)
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary
