Responsibilities

• Identify and transport requested materials to and from various locations.
• Safely operate forklift and/or other machinery and ensure others do the same while loading, unloading, verifying inventory, sorting, staging, and transporting products in a high-traffic environment.
• Coordinate daily loading and unloading schedule with managers; inform necessary individuals of shortages; remove damaged products from inventory.
• Stack goods in correct storage areas following inventory procedures.
• Conduct required pre-operating checks on forklift prior to use; ensure loads are secure.
• Examine finished products to verify conformance to quality standards.

Description

The Forklift Operator creates value by providing safe, accurate inventory control and customer service by safely operating a forklift to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to other parts of the warehouse. Requirements

1. Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, railroad cars, trucks, and storage areas.
2. Safely operates forklift and/or other machinery and ensures other team members do the same while completing tasks such as loading, unloading, verifying inventory, sorting, staging, and transporting products in a high traffic environment.
3. Works with other managers to coordinate daily loading and unloading schedule, ensure orders are loaded in a timely manner, informs necessary individuals of product shortages, and removes damaged products from the inventory.
4. Stacks goods in correct storage areas, following proper inventory control procedures.
5. Conducts required pre-operating checks on forklift, prior to use.
6. Ensures all loads are secure when moving through the facility.
7. Examines finished products to verify conformance to quality standards.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma
• At least 1 year of forklift experience
• Forklift Certified

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Will be exposed to varying temperatures, depending upon the season.

The employee is occasionally required to sit on a powered industrial truck; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently must stand for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary based upon the needs of the department. Occasional overtime may be needed.
