Job summary

Golden State Lumber is seeking a full-time forklift operator to support daily yard operations in a fast-paced lumber yard in San Rafael, CA. You will pull materials, build loads, load/unload trucks, and assist customers while maintaining safety and accuracy.

The ideal candidate brings two years of forklift and lumber yard experience, strong customer service, and the ability to work independently in a team-oriented environment. This onsite role requires Drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

• Two years forklift experience required.
• Lumber yard or building materials experience required.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work independently.
• Team-oriented approach with willingness to support other departments as needed.
• Ability to read and understand picking tickets, invoices, and related paperwork.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Completion of a background check satisfactory to the employer.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret picking tickets, invoices, and related paperwork to accurately pull materials, build customer orders, and verify received inventory.
• Build safe, stable, and efficient loads of lumber and building materials for customer delivery or pickup.
• Load and unload company trucks with building materials by hand and with a forklift.
• Help customers with loading and unloading materials while providing a high level of customer service.
• Understand truck weight and load limits to help ensure safe and compliant loading practices.
• Maintain assigned inventory areas by placing materials in designated yard locations and supporting inventory accuracy.
• Perform daily forklift safety checks and promptly report malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard to support efficient operations, accurate material handling, and a positive customer experience.
• Perform additional duties and assignments as needed to support yard operations and customer needs.

We are looking for a full-time Forklift Operator to join our team. In this role, you will support daily yard operations by pulling materials, building loads, loading and unloading trucks, and assisting customers while helping ensure a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced lumber yard setting.

*This position is located onsite and is not a remote or hybrid position, this position is part of the local Teamsters 665. Successful candidates must join, within 30 days of hire.
