Job summary

Crate and Barrel in Romeoville, IL is seeking a Forklift Operator to move furniture and houseware safely within our distribution center. You will operate forklifts, reach trucks, and stock pickers to stock, retrieve, lift, carry, move, and position merchandise with accuracy.

You will follow safety procedures, perform equipment checks, collaborate with team members, and participate in ongoing training to stay current with technology and systems to meet daily productivity goals.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of operating power industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate materials handling equipment to stock, retrieve, lift, carry, move and position merchandise.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment to prevent damage to goods and facilities.
• Perform safety checks on lifts and report any damage before and after shifts.
• Maintain accurate inventory and report discrepancies.
• Carry out routine equipment servicing and replenish fuel as needed.
• Clean up materials and maintain housekeeping in work areas.
• Rotate through departments to meet business demands.
• Participate in ongoing training on technology upgrades and new systems.

Job description

As a vital member of our team, the Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient movement of furniture and/or houseware products. You'll expertly utilize material handling equipment (including forklifts, reach trucks, and stock pickers) to stock, retrieve, lift, carry, move, and precisely position merchandise throughout our dynamic distribution center. A day in the life as a Forklift Operator...

• Uses materials handling equipment to stock, retrieve, lift, carry, move, and position merchandise or materials stored on various levels throughout the warehouse/crossdock
• Responsible for the safe operation of equipment to ensure no damage to merchandise, equipment, or facilities
• Performs safety checks on lifts, reporting any damage prior to start and end of shift
• Maintains accurate inventory and reports any discrepancies
• Performs all routine equipment servicing including, but not limited to attaching a battery charger, replenishing fuel, and checking for safety of operations
• Cleans up and disposes boxes, packing material, and pallets, as well as general housekeeping of facility and specific product line areas
• Rotates through different departments, as necessary, to meet the demands of the business
• Participates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position
• Performs all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals
