Job Description

Perform daily warehouse operations covering all facets of a distribution center, in support of the Social Security Administration at the Frank Hagel Building in Richmond, California. We are looking for a careful forklift operator to move packages and material around our facilities. You will be operating a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety. You must be a responsible individual with great experience in operating material handling equipment.

This On-Call position provides coverage for employees that are out on vacation, sick, or other personal reasons. Full day coverage will be required and in most instances you will be alerted before 9 AM. On-Call could lead to Full-Time opportunity should a position become available. Retirees welcome.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Shipping/Receiving
  • Stacking/Storing
  • Picking
  • Distribution
  • Loading and unloading trucks (government owned trucks)
  • Operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE), such as forklifts, narrow-aisle turret-forklift, order picker forklift, electric pallet lift trucks, handcarts, dollies and other manual equipment.
  • Perform other Warehouse and labor related services as assigned by SSA-designated representatives.
  • Use Government Data Systems to perform job requirements.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with co-workers, site management.
  • Meet physical requirements, such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Qualifications
  • Warehouse : One(1) years experience
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Must possess and maintain a favorable background investigation.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations; and working knowledge of inventory control systems.
  • Forklift, electric Pallet jack, and shrink-wrapping experience.
  • Work requires a variety of well-established warehousing/materials handling methods and techniques including the use of handheld computers/scanners.
  • Must be proficient in reading and capable of communicating effectively in English to perform warehouse support services.
  • Must possess basic math skills and be familiar with the use of handheld scanners.
  • Be capable of standing, bending, lifting, and walking for the majority of a workday.
  • Be capable of lifting and carry moderately heavy material (up to 50 lbs)
