POSITION SUMMARY

TEMPO Employment Services is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Forklift Operator for a full-time night shift Opportunity-to-Hire position with an established employer in Mars Hill.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely moving, storing, loading, and receiving materials and finished products throughout the facility. This position requires attention to detail, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively as part of a warehouse and distribution team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Attend pre-shift meetings and communicate with team members regarding daily priorities.
• Safely and efficiently operate a forklift and other approved powered industrial equipment.
• Complete required daily forklift inspections and immediately remove equipment from service if a safety concern or defect is identified.
• Load, unload, move, and store products and materials in designated areas.
• Ship and receive products accurately while completing required quality reassurance checks.
• Fill customer orders accurately and follow specific customer instructions.
• Monitor work areas for safety concerns or unsafe practices and report or address concerns appropriately.
• Complete required paperwork, documentation, and inventory records accurately and completely.
• Work closely with office and warehouse staff to resolve discrepancies or product issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
• Ensure pallets, materials, and products are stored properly and designated storage areas remain organized.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, sanitation standards, and company safety procedures.
• Follow applicable SQF food safety and quality requirements.
• Report food safety, product quality, equipment, or employee safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate professionally and positively with coworkers and other departments.
• Promote teamwork and contribute to a productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

High school diploma or GED.

• Must be able to successfully complete a background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support.
• Must be available to work the full night shift schedule.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment.
• Ability to successfully complete required Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training and forklift certification.
• Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate instructions effectively.
• Basic math skills and the ability to accurately complete required documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to assess situations and make sound decisions while maintaining employee, product, and workplace safety.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• At least six months of experience working in a palletized warehouse or distribution environment.
• Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment experience.
• Current forklift certification is preferred but is not required at the time of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Forklift certification is not required prior to starting. The selected employee will receive company-approved Powered Industrial Truck training and certification as part of the onboarding process.
