Job summary

The TRIGO Group in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Forklift Operator for the first shift. This non-exempt, hourly role involves operating forklifts, inspecting equipment, and supporting warehouse and production operations.

You will receive, store, move and stage materials, pick/pack orders, and conduct inventory counts while following safety policies and quality requirements. Reliability and timely performance are essential.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials and products within the facility to support operations.
• Perform daily forklift inspections at shift start and report safety/maintenance concerns.

• Verify trucks/trailers are secured before loading/unloading.
• Receive, store, move and stage materials in the warehouse.
• Pick, pack and prepare orders for shipment per requirements.
• Conduct inventory counts and cycle counts, maintain accuracy.
• Verify quantities, labels and documentation; record changes.
• Band/strap products and prepare for shipment; ensure proper placards.
• Maintain organized warehouse; ensure next load is staged for shipment.
• Assist with inspections and quality checks as required.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Job description

TRIGO Heavy Transportation has a current opening for a Forklift Operator within our Lafayette, IN team. This is a first shift non-exempt position with an hourly pay rate of $17.00.

Overall Purpose

Ensure Quality services and provide Forklift support for all missions assigned to their site

Reports to

Direct: Site Manager/Site Supervisor Indirect: Area Manager/Director of Operation

Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Business Development

• Transport materials and products throughout the facility to support efficient warehouse and production operations.

Operations

• Perform daily forklift inspections (circle check/walk-around) at the beginning of each shift and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
• Verify that trucks and trailers are properly secured before loading and unloading.
• Perform blind tallies using a lumberman's count on inbound and outbound shipments, when required.
• Accurately receive, store, move, and stage materials within the warehouse.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer and company requirements.
• Conduct inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliations to maintain accurate inventory records.
• Verify quantities, labels, and documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments. Record any quantity changes on tally sheets and re-count when variances are identified.
• Band/strap products and verify material is properly prepared for shipment.
• Ensure appropriate placarding and markings are present on all outgoing shipments.
• Remove old placards, manage and return dunnage, and remove empty skids and containers as needed.
• Maintain an organized warehouse and ensure the next load is staged and ready for shipment.
• Assist with inspection activities and quality checks when required.
• Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Support company Health & Safety policies and initiatives.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.

Technical

• Utilize company systems and portals for timekeeping, inventory transactions, and policy acknowledgments.
• Operate and maintain warehouse equipment and technology as required.

• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Work Experience

Overall Recommendations

• Previous experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment preferred.
• Experience with inventory counts, order picking, packing, shipping/receiving, and general warehouse operations is preferred.
