Job summary

Hood Container Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced forklift operator to support our corrugated manufacturing operations. You will operate and maintain forklifts, perform inspections, and document production data while adhering to safety and quality standards.

The role requires 5+ years in forklift operation and 2+ years with RF scanners, with ability to work a 1st or 2nd shift and weekends as needed. Training and certification opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

• Operate and care for forklift safely and be qualified to operate.
• Document forklift inspections and report needed repairs.
• Move units from conveyor to designated areas and onto trailers.
• Deliver units to trailers on time.
• Maintain neat, safe stock piles in storage.
• Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate unit location via paperwork and computer.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at capacity.
• Follow daily production schedule.
• Use RF scanner to log product data.
• Prepare reports such as production data, machine status, safety and quality data.
• Follow company policies including safety and housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Summary

Schedule :

1st Shift : 6AM - 2 PM ( Monday - Friday )( Weekends As Needed)
2nd Shift: 2PM - 10PM ( Monday - Friday )( Weekends As needed )

Duties And Responsibilities

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Pull units from the main conveyor line and place them in designated area ( Trailer or Location)
• Deliver appropriate units onto trailer on time.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in storage areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate location of units in storage area by paperwork and computer.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adhere to daily production schedule.
• Utilize an RF scanner to intake product information for data logs
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
5 or more years work experience as a forklift operator.
2 years RF Scanner experience
Ability to work in a high paced environment

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A current Lift Truck/Clamp Truck Operator License is required.
** Possibility of receiving an inhouse certification after successfully passing Lift Operator Exam**

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to hot and/or humid as well as cold conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, louder than normal environments, and high paced atmosphere.
