Job summary

The Gifting Company is seeking a Forklift Operator/Material Handler to support production by managing inventory and coordinating with supervisors. You will help maintain the inventory system, assist with order picking, and ensure accurate packing and shipment of goods.

The role requires handling warehouse duties, standing for extended periods, and the ability to pass forklift certification. Warehouse experience and a valid driver's license are expected.

  • Maintain product quantities on shelves to support Order Pickers and daily orders.
  • Count products from shipments and inspect quality against standards.
  • Pack and label orders with accuracy and ensure safe loading for carriers.
  • Be willing to obtain and maintain forklift certification as required.

Job Purpose

The Forklift Operator/Material Handler is responsible for keeping up with the demand of inventory required by production; while coordinating and collaborating with the Inventory Manager, Production Managers, and Shipping Receiving Lead for the preparation, control, and maintenance of the inventory system and related work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing and facilitating the lot tracking system for inventory.
  • Consistently maintain product amounts on inventory shelves to assist Order Pickers with completing daily orders.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Manager regarding inventory expiration dates, out-of-stock items, and incoming stock items.
  • Count products from incoming shipments and check that all products meet quality standards.
  • Mark packing slips received for incoming shipments once the product has been counted and inspected.
  • Organize and log incoming inventory from truck deliveries while maintaining receiving logs as necessary and maintaining SQF receiving procedure compliance.
  • Provide all physical documentation to the Inventory Manager after the receiving process is complete.
  • Ensure good communication to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management. Must be organized, detail oriented and hardworking.
  • Observe all company policies.
  • Possess basic computer skills to complete batches and print labels for orders being packed.
  • Must check product quality while picking and packing.
  • Ability to determine the most efficient process/technique and execute proper packing methods to ensure all orders ship quickly, accurately, cost-effectively, and safely to the destination without damage.
  • Ability to keep packing stations stocked with necessary items to efficiently perform packing tasks throughout the day.
  • Palletize packages efficiently to avoid damage to product/packaging and ensure correct loading into trailers for carrier pickups.
  • Accurately and efficiently pull the product from order requests.
  • Efficiently and accurately pull product from warehouse locations to fill pick tickets for our E-commerce division.
  • Willingness to do duties assigned by your supervisor or management personnel.
  • Uphold attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure with constant deadlines.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work area.
  • Must be willing to become forklift certified and maintain the certification.
  • Comply with GMP and SQF Standards

This position works in a warehouse setting. This role routinely moves and organizes inventory stored on industrial shelving. This role also may also be required to transport inventory to the designated inventory stocking area. This role regularly stands and walks on hard flooring for extended amounts of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or reach; reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move objects up to 20-40 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50-70lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to work on your feet for long periods (8 to 10 hours).
