Job summary

SPS Companies, Inc. in Chesterfield, MO is seeking a Forklift Operator to load and unload trucks, move bundles of tubing, and stage materials for production while adhering to safety and quality standards.

You will operate SAP handheld scanners, perform daily equipment inspections, and support the Fabrication team. A high school diploma or GED and forklift experience are required; overtime may be required.

Job description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the loading and unloading of all truck types, while meeting safety and quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Attends all scheduled safety, department, and company meetings as required.
  • Pull bundles of tubing and stage them in the appropriate location for production.
  • Always follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices to ensure the safety of self and others.
  • Receive all material and store in designated areas.
  • Load material for delivery onto flatbed, hot shot and LTL trailers.
  • Perform daily inspections on the equipment and record results on daily inspection form.
  • Proficiently operate SAP-supported hand-held scanners.
  • Report any equipment problems to the Supervisor for immediate repair or schedule for repair.
  • Inspect work area daily to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Report any quality related problems to the Supervisor for resolution.
  • Provide support to the Fabrication team, as needed, at the direction of the Supervisor or Plant Manager.
Physical & Work Requirements:
  • Working in a warehouse facility within OSHA guidelines; conditions may be heated/unheated and periodically noisy.
  • Fast-paced moderately stressful, constantly changing day to day work environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or be mobile for up to eight hours per shift.
  • Capable of ascending and descending material handling equipment.
  • Operates a machine sitting down for long periods of time.
  • Required to wear proper PPE in warehouse.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, as needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to effectively read and use a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience using a forklift or heavy equipment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
