Job summary

Aerotek in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a contract-to-hire Material Handler. The role involves operating forklifts to move metal coils to production or shipping, and using a slitter to cut coils while verifying measurements.

The position requires reviewing work orders, preparing and packaging materials, and using basic hand tools and production equipment. This onsite role offers weekly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts to move metal coils to production or shipping.
• Slit coils with the slitter and verify measurements with tape measure.
• Review work orders and confirm material specs (weight, alloy, size, quality).
• Prepare and package materials per customer and internal instructions.
• Use basic hand tools and production equipment such as banders, cutters, wrappers, nails, and saws.
• Identify slit material and complete required documentation with accuracy.
• Group finished coils by work order and stage them in designated areas.
• Trim coils to customer widths and perform final coil checks.
• Identify materials by alloy, size, melt, weight, and edge type.

Job description

Pay Rate: $20/hr

Shift: 1st (5am-3:30pm) Monday-Friday

Optional OT on Saturdays (8 hours)

Job Duties:

• Operate forklifts to transport metal coils and materials to production areas or the shipping department
• Operate slitter machine to slit coils and use tape measure to verify measurements.
• Review work orders and verify correct materials, including weight, alloy, size, and quality
• Prepare and package materials according to customer and internal packaging instructions
• Use basic hand tools and production equipment such as automatic banders, core cutters, shrink wrappers, nail guns, and circular saws
• Properly identify all slit material and complete required documentation with accuracy
• Group finished coils by work order and stage them in designated areas
• Prepare metal coils by trimming to customer‑specified widths and perform final checks on coil specifications
• Identify all edged material by alloy, size, melt, weight, and edge type, ensuring all documentation is completed correctly

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ann Arbor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
