Job description

Forklift Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Field Service Technician to join our team in the material handling industry in Baltimore, MD. This individual will be responsible for providing on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for a range of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and related machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments.

Main Duties:

  1. Perform scheduled planned maintenance (PM) on material handling equipment at customer sites to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  2. Diagnose and repair equipment failures and malfunctions, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  3. Install and commission new equipment and systems, ensuring proper functionality and safety standards are met.
  4. Provide technical support and training to customers on proper equipment usage, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  5. Respond promptly to service calls, both during and outside regular business hours, as needed.
  6. Maintain accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation of repairs performed, parts used, and time spent on-site.
  7. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring necessary equipment is available for service calls.
  8. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations while working on customer sites.
  9. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients through professional, courteous, and efficient service.
  10. Stay updated with the latest technological advancements in material handling equipment and industry trends.

Requirements:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field (such as electrical, mechanical, or industrial technology) preferred.
  2. Proven experience as a field service technician, preferably in the material handling or industrial equipment industry.
  3. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work independently on a variety of equipment.
  4. Familiarity with electrical circuits, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems preferred.
  5. Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
  6. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in physically demanding environments.
  7. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple service calls.
  8. Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required.
  9. Willingness to travel and be on-call as required for emergency service requests.

Compensation:
This position is paid hourly with a pay range of $20.00/hr. - $40.00/hr. Compensation is based on experience.
