Job summary

FIS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Forklift Mechanic in Jersey City, NJ to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair material-handling equipment to ensure safe, efficient warehouse operations.

You will perform routine and emergency maintenance, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake system issues, repair masts and attachments, and maintain accurate service logs, while following all safety procedures. A high school diploma and 1–2 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of forklift or material-handling equipment maintenance/repair experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, brake, mast, and attachment systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on forklifts and material-handling equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake system issues.
• Perform repairs on forklift masts and attachment components.
• Complete tire and wheel changes as needed.
• Interpret manufacturer technical manuals to properly diagnose and complete repairs.
• Replace defective or damaged parts and order replacement parts when necessary.
• Reassemble equipment and make necessary adjustments to ensure safe operation.
• Conduct safety inspections before returning forklifts to operation.
• Complete preventative maintenance documentation and service logs accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures and requirements.
• Stay current on new equipment, technology, and repair techniques.
