Position Overview:

The Forklift Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of forklifts and other material handling equipment used in our warehouse and freight operations. The ideal candidate will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform preventative maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in forklifts (propane, diesel, and electric).
2. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all forklifts and related equipment.
3. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and controls.
4. Maintain accurate service records and complete repair logs and work orders.
5. Ensure all equipment complies with OSHA and company safety standards.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
7. Support other vehicle and equipment maintenance tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED preferred; technical or trade school preferred.
2. 1+ years of experience as a forklift mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
3. Strong knowledge of forklift systems: electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and engines.
4. Valid driver’s license.
5. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
6. Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in warehouse environments.
7. Strong attention to safety and detail.
