Responsibilities:

Our Material Handling Group is currently looking for a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician for our South Bend, IN branch. This position is first shift, M-F, hourly (no flat rate!). Field Technicians are provided a company service van, which they can drive home, along with a fuel card. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
• Completing repairs in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Proper completion and submission of all paperwork
• Managing company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Two years of previous forklift repair experience is highly desired, including military, Guard, or Reserve service with MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM
• Previous field experience is highly preferable
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools required
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Familiarity with computer programs like HYPASS, Hyster TKC, and Yale/Hyster contact management system
• Intermediate reading, writing, and speaking skills in English
• Basic math skills and intermediate reasoning ability

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Regularly standing, walking, using hands; frequently talking/hearing; occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• No special vision requirements
• Lift up to 10 pounds regularly; 11-25 pounds frequently; 26-100+ pounds occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather, and occasionally in wet/humid, cold, or hot conditions, with risks like electrical shock and vibration
