Equipment Operator Employees Must

Summary Of Position

As an Equipment Operator at Enstructure, you will play a key role in supporting terminal operations by safely operating a variety of heavy equipment to load, unload, move, and stage cargo. This includes forklifts, paper clamp trucks, stackers, front‑end loaders, and other specialized equipment used in port and warehouse operations. You must maintain a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and productivity while ensuring cargo is handled according to operational and customer standards and maintaining inventory and ensuring production organization and cleanliness.

Candidates must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed, including extended schedules of 6 to 7 consecutive days during peak operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain coordination of team functions, ensuring continuous control of daily team operations, and consistently aware of work conditions, time, service, and quality.
  • Establish leadership by setting examples in appearance, attendance, demeanor, responsibility, and dedication to the company.
  • Lift, stack, unstack, and move bulk and break‑bulk materials using diesel, electric, or propane‑powered trucks equipped with fork or clamp attachments.
  • Ensure goods are stored in the correct area for efficient retrieval.
  • Load and unload trailers, containers, boxcars, and cargo off vessels.
  • Perform manual duties such as lashing and shoring cargo aboard the ship, attaching slings, hooks, or other lifting devices to the winch for loading or unloading, and signaling other workers to move, raise, or lower cargo. May direct the activities of the cargo gang and less experienced stevedores.
  • Perform quality‑checking and escorting responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
  • Notify the supervisor of unsafe situations or situations not in the best interest of the team.
  • Ensure all team tasks are completed by the end of the shift.
  • Work on miscellaneous projects as needed.
  • Function independently, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative and tact in handling all responsibilities.
  • Adhere to the Company’s safety policies and procedures, those set out by OSHA.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirement
  • Pass written and equipment operation forklift certification tests; basic knowledge areas include safety procedures, truck inspections, storage and exchange points, counterbalance effect, stability triangle, center of gravity, equipment terminology, attachments, load centers, battery inspection, and material handling including loading and de‑stacking, unloading, and stacking of counterbalance, traveling, ramps, trailers, and parking.
  • Knowledge and willingness to perform all responsibilities of each position within the team.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk long distances, talk and hear.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and arms to grab, handle, or feel, and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance or lifting machinery as necessary.
  • Must wear required safety PPE such as safety vest, hard hat, gloves, etc.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Working indoors and outdoors.
  • Excessive heat or cold, extreme weather conditions, excessive humidity or dampness, chilling.
  • Slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
  • Work around moving objects, vehicles, and moving machinery/h heavy equipment.

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM; weekends and holidays as needed, overtime, and extended schedules of 6 to 7 consecutive days during peak operations.
