Job summary

Hadco Metal Trading is seeking an experienced Forklift Driver for overnight shifts at our Melville, NY facility. You will unload materials from evening deliveries and reload completed orders for next-day dispatch, ensuring safe handling and accurate record-keeping.

The role requires at least two years of forklift experience, comfort with scanners and ERP systems, and the ability to work Sunday through Thursday nights. Hadco offers competitive pay, PTO, 401k, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of forklift operation experience in a distribution environment.
• Experience moving large, heavy loads and loading/unloading trailers and flatbeds.
• Ability to work overnight Sunday-Thursday 11:30PM-7:30AM.
• Proficiency with computers, scanners, and warehousing systems.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklift to offload material orders from overnight shuttles.
• Safely load completed orders onto flatbed trucks for next day deliveries.
• Ensure loads are secured to prevent damage during transport.
• Communicate with delivery drivers daily and document movements using ERP and scanners.
• Maintain accurate inventory and shipping records in the ERP system.

Hadco Metal Trading, a well-established, nationally recognized distributor of semi-finished metals and plastics, is looking to hire an experienced Forklift Driver to work overnights at our Melville, NY facility, and safely unload various types of metal material and product, such as stainless steel and aluminum plate, sheet, and bar stock from the evening tractor trailer deliveries, and reload flatbed trucks with completed and packaged customer orders for next day deliveries.

Work schedule:

Sunday-Thursday 11:30PM-7:30AM

Role & Responsibilities:

• Safely operate forklift to offload material orders from overnight shuttles.
• Safely load completed orders onto flatbed trucks for next day deliveries.
• Assure that material is carefully and safely loaded for optimum, damage-free delivery.
• Communicate with delivery drivers daily.
• Scan material documents to maintain accurate inventory and shipping records.
• Utilize computer systems such as our company ERP system for routing, inventory, and other necessary information.
• Comply with transportation-related policies, for proper distribution of weight per DOT and government regulations.
• Promote safe work activities and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum two years of experience as a safe forklift operator in a distribution environment where responsibilities include loading/unloading tractor trailers and flatbed trucks.
• Experience moving large, heavy, often bulky loads (our metal products come in all sizes, shapes, lengths, and weights).
• Ability to work overnight Sunday-Thursday 11:30PM-7:30AM without exception.
• Commitment to report to work on time and reliable transportation.
• Experience using computers, scanners, and related technology and systems used in warehousing and distribution.
• Knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb on to truck beds as needed.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
