Job summary

Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation in Muskegon, MI is seeking a self-motivated 3rd Shift Loader/Operator to safely route and load steel onto trucks during the overnight shift.

You will operate a forklift (Hilo) and overhead crane, load about four flatbed trucks each night, and assist with other shop operations. Training on a separate 2nd/3rd shift will be provided until you transition to the 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a forklift/Hilo and overhead crane preferred.
• Ability to learn safely pulling and maneuvering semi-trucks with 48-foot trailers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure trucks are loaded accurately, safely, and according to routing requirements.
• Follow all company safety procedures and loading requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Communicate effectively with other employees and shifts to ensure a smooth transition of work.

Job description

We are seeking a self-motivated and dependable 3rd Shift Loader/Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient routing and loading of steel onto trucks during the overnight shift. Once daily loading is complete, the employee will operate material-handling equipment and assist with other shop operations as needed.

This position requires someone who can work independently, stay productive without constant supervision, and take pride in completing work safely and accurately.

Schedule

Sunday night– Thursday night
11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Route and load approximately 4 flatbed trucks each night.
• Load a shuttle truck to Lexington approximately twice per week.
• Safely load and secure material using a forklift (Hilo) and overhead crane.
• Learn and become proficient in safely pulling semi-trucks with 48-foot trailers into and out of the building for loading operations.
• Operate material-handling and other shop equipment after truck loading is complete.

Training

Training will be provided on a separate 2nd/3rd split shift until the employee has successfully completed all required training and is ready to transition to the 3rd shift schedule.

Training will include:

• Overhead crane operation
• Truck routing and loading procedures
• Safe loading and securing of materials
• Safe operation and maneuvering of semi-trucks with 48-foot trailers into and out of the building
• Facility-specific safety procedures

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate a Hilo and overhead crane.
• Ability to safely maneuver semi-trucks and 48-foot trailers into and out of the building.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• Employees will be provided with the appropriate equipment and resources necessary to perform the job safely.
