Job summary

RRD is seeking a forklift operator for the 1st shift in Wisconsin (Cudahy). Schedule: 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday–Friday with overtime as needed.

Responsible for moving finished product, supplying materials, staging shipments, and maintaining inventory accuracy. Operate forklifts and related equipment, perform routine inspections, handle batteries and LP/Propane tasks, and uphold safety policies including LOTO and PPE.

Qualifications

• Ability to judge forklift dimensions and lifting capacity.
• Identify doorway and aisle clearance for forklift and load.
• Knowledge of storage layout to place items without detailed instructions.
• Skilled at moving forklifts in tight spaces.
• Advanced understanding of forklift controls for safe operation.
• Proficient in starting, stopping, and navigating forklifts in narrow aisles.
• Ability to assess load balance and lifting feasibility.

• May include battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries.
• May include changing LP/Propane.
• Adheres to safety policies including lock out-tag out and PPE requirements.
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Pay

$16.50/hr to $18.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment to move finished product for shipping or storage
• Supplies Manufacturing Department with materials as needed
• Stages product to be moved or shipped
• Racks unused supplies and maintains an inventory of type, amount and location of items
• Transports and process manufacturing paper by-products
• Empties trash hoppers and performs other housekeeping duties as needed
• Performs routine daily inspections on hoist and assures maintenance needs are reported
• May include battery service duties such as inspecting, recharging and replacing batteries of electrical leads and battery poles and lubricating truck's moving parts
• May include changing LP/Propane
• Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out-tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Must know how high, wide, and long the fork lift truck and its load are, and how much the fork lift truck can lift
• Ability to identify how high and wide a doorway and an aisle must be to drive the fork lift truck and its load; how high and wide the shelf, bin, etc., must be to place the load; and how high the load must be lifted to reach the shelf or bin
• Knowledge of the layout of the storage area to be able to find and place items without need for detailed instructions
• Skilled in moving fork lift trucks about in places where there is very little room to stack or remove loads
• Greater knowledge and skill than Hoist Operator 1 in the handling of controls for driving fork lift and/or clamp trucks
• Must be skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backings, and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in building, up and down ramps, and in and out of railroad cars, trucks, etc.; and, for lifting, lowering, and tilting forks by moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls
• Must be able to recognize whether the fork lift truck is able to lift the load and whether the load is properly balanced

Benefits and Compensation

The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential.
