Job summary

Lofton Staffing Services is seeking a Warehouse/Transfer Operator for a chemical packing operation in Geismar, LA. You will control and monitor transfers of bulk liquid chemicals into packaging using automated drum and tote fillers, connect rail cars and trucks, verify fill orders, and prepare hose assemblies and labels.

Must have forklift experience and TWIC, HS diploma, and comply with safety rules. Shift 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, on-site.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• TWIC required.

Responsibilities

• Control and monitor transfers of bulk liquid chemicals into packaging using automated drum and tote fillers.
• Physically connect rail cars and trucks to transfer lines.
• Verify weights and documents using drum or tote scales and fill orders.
• Prepare automated drum scales with hoses, lances, and labels.
• Communicate with the control room during filling operations.
• Operate forklift to move drums and totes; forklift experience required.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
• Assist in responding to terminal emergencies if trained and certified.
• Follow all plant safety rules and SOPs.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by adhering to procedures.
• Understand regulatory requirements relevant to the job responsibilities.

Job description

• Control and monitor transfers of the various bulk liquid fine chemicals into packaging by using automated drum and tote fillers.
• Physically connect the rail cars and trucks to the transfer lines.
• Understand printed fill orders and ensure that the proper weights are transferred by utilizing the drum or tote scales and assist in generating the proper filling documentation.
• Prepare the automated drum scales with the proper hoses, lances, and labels.
• Communicate with the control room during the filling operation.
• Empty transfer lines by means of pigging.
• Use a forklift and a scanner when moving drums and totes in the warehouse. Must have forklift experience!
• Must keep work area clean and tidy.
• Assist in responding to terminal emergencies such as spills and fire if Emergency Response is trained and certified.
• Follow all plant safety rules.
• Ensure customer satisfaction. Follow all Standard Operation Procedures.
• Trained and understand all regulatory requirements about the responsibilities of the job.
