Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, load and unload merchandise. Repairs and maintains facilities as instructed. Handling, moving, and storage of hazardous waste containers, response to spills, inspection of containers, and assisting with proper waste disposal. The distribution center is a logistics based department, and as such we are required to potentially work 15 hours of overtime per week, depending on the workload.

Essential Functions
  • Safely operate forklifts or any other power equipment to complete various tasks and projects assigned.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound products are accurate and free of damage.
  • Efficiently move products from storage to other locations in the warehouse, as well as loading and unloading trucks.
  • Follow safety and health procedures including goggles, gloves, and other apparatus required for the safe completion of the job.
  • Maintain plant facilities, tools and other items used in the performance of the employee’s duties.
  • Follow the appropriate Hazmat clean‑up and disposal procedures and immediately report all spills to supervisor.
  • All duties must be performed in a safe and efficient manner. Any unsafe working conditions must be reported to supervisor and corrective actions must be taken before proceeding with the job.
  • Fabricate, repair and maintain any equipment used in manufacturing processes if requested to do so by superiors.
  • Ensure all warehouse loads for the day are complete regardless of the hours of operation.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or two to four years related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a forklift.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Physical Abilities: lift and carry up to 100 pounds; tip and move 55‑gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of a drum dolly.
Work Environment

Chemical manufacturing environment inside and outside of metal buildings. Employee may be exposed to temperature extremes, chemical odors, and hazardous conditions. Must be able to lift 100 pounds and operate machinery safely while using safety equipment including eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hard hats. Loose fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted. Forklift operation is part of the job.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, goggles, etc.
