Job summary

Vermeer in Okahumpka, Florida is seeking a Material Handler to support production by storing and distributing materials across the manufacturing floor using a variety of material handling equipment. This full-time position is on first shift and offers an hourly wage in the $18.83–$21.29 range.

You will read schedules, move items, open containers, label and count stock, operate forklifts, and participate in 5S workplace organization.

Qualifications

• Demonstration of effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to respond to questions from managers and suppliers.
• Ability to perform basic functions in Glovia.
• Ability to perform problem solving techniques.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
• Must have the ability to obtain a Vermeer Forklift Operators License.

Responsibilities

• Read production schedules, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Move materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated areas throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Open boxes, crates, and other containers. Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to documented standard work, or predetermined sequence (i.e. part number, commodity, size, product code).
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for material, tools, or other stock items and distribute to production work areas.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to standard work and company policy.
• Drive forklift or other material handling vehicles when necessary.
• Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department and offer suggestions and make improvements that achieve the department’s performance board metrics.
