Job summary

Southwest Steel Processing is seeking a skilled Forge Technician to operate forging presses and related equipment, ensuring safe, efficient production of metal components. You will monitor heating cycles, perform die changes, and inspect parts to meet specs.

You will also document production, utilize calipers/micrometers for measurements, and work with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issues, while following PPE protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate forging presses and equipment to shape metal components.
• Monitor heater temperatures and heating cycles.
• Perform die changes and tooling setups.
• Inspect forged parts for quality against specs.
• Use measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE.

• Train on saw, heater, booth operator, trim press, blaster, crane, forklift, and downstacker operations.

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Forge Technician to join our team. As a Forge Technician you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing and fabrication of steel products, operating, and maintaining forging equipment to produce high-quality metal components. This role requires expertise in handling heated materials, operating presses, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties:

• Operate forging presses and other equipment to shape metal components.
• Monitor heater temperatures and heating cycles to ensure proper material properties.
• Perform die changes, tooling setups, and adjustments to meet production requirements.
• Inspect forged parts for quality, ensuring they meet company and customer specifications.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Follow safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain accurate production records and complete the required documentation.
• Identify and troubleshoot process issues, working closely with maintenance and quality teams.
• Assist with routine maintenance of forging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Train on saw, heater, booth operator, trim press, blaster, crane, forklift, and downstacker operations.
