Job summary

Colorado State University’s Colorado State Forest Service seeks a Forester to deliver science-based forestry, wildfire mitigation, and outreach across an assigned geographic area in Fort Collins, CO. The role advances small- to moderate‑complexity projects on state, private, and federal lands and supports grant delivery while coordinating with landowners, local governments, and partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field (minimum).
Two+ years professional Natural Resource management experience.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel; ability to work irregular hours.
Physical ability to hike long distances at high elevations with a pack.
Experience with budgeting, grant/contract administration, reporting, or compliance.

Responsibilities

Lead planning and execution of small- to moderate‑complexity forestry projects.
Develop scopes of work, field plans, and technical recommendations; monitor timelines and safety.
Assist with grant and cost-share program delivery and reporting.
Provide technical assistance and customer service to landowners and partners.
Supervise a student intern on projects and ensure safety and quality.
