Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a gardening and grounds maintenance supervisor. The role operates independently under general supervision with technical direction from a supervisor.

It includes tree and grounds maintenance, snow removal, and supervising staff. Applicants must have one year of horticultural maintenance experience, a valid drivers license and a Kansas class A CDL within six months, plus the ability to obtain pesticide applicator certification.

Qualifications

• One year of horticultural maintenance or landscape work experience.
• Valid drivers license and Kansas class A CDL within six months.
• Ability to obtain State of Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicator certification within one year.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal record evaluation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains trees, including cultivating, transplanting, irrigating, pruning, spraying, and fertilizing.
• Operates and maintains spray equipment to apply pest control measures.
• Supervises other employees and coordinates work.
• Removes snow from walks and other areas.
• Repairs irrigation systems.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
