DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary objective of this role is to deliver expert forestry services supporting various programs within the Bureau of Forestry. This position plays a crucial part in achieving goals outlined in the forest resource management plan for Moshannon State Forest, focusing on enhancing recreation opportunities and managing timber programs sustainably. The individual will promote responsible use of forest resources, contributing to the health and vitality of the ecosystem while balancing recreation and timber harvesting with conservation efforts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Overtime may be required
• Telework: Opportunity for part-time telework on an ad-hoc basis, requiring a secure high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, reporting to the headquarters in Penfield is an option.
• Potential eligibility for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS)
• Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications

• Two years of technical forestry experience and an associate's degree in a related field, or
• A bachelor's degree in a related field, or
• A master's degree in a related field

Applicants are considered to meet educational requirements if within 3 months of graduation.

Special Requirement: Valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements: PA residency is waived for this position; ability to perform essential job functions is required.
