Responsibilities

The incumbent provides administrative support and oversees recreational activities within the forest. Duties include managing visitor services, coordinating recreational programming, and assisting in the maintenance of recreation facilities. The role also involves record keeping, customer service, and collaboration with the fire protection team on forest management activities.

Working Conditions

The position requires work in isolated areas, walking or running on uneven, rough terrain, and remaining on duty for extended periods without a break. The incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, or holidays in support of emergency incidents and may be exposed to psychologically stressful or physically demanding conditions consistent with firefighting, disaster response, and emergency medical response.

Minimum Requirements
  • Exercise a valid California Registered Professional Forester License and provide a copy prior to hiring.
  • Complete CAL FIRE Firefighter Academy (FFA) and Company Officer Academy (COA) training during the probationary period.
Special Requirements
  • Medical clearance required prior to employment.
  • Must wear respiratory protection equipment, including self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and undergo annual medical clearance for fit‑testing.
  • Maintains the Arduous Fitness Standard in accordance with Department policy.
Benefits

Pay: $6,932 - $8,997 Base Salary (paid monthly) with an annual compensation of $83,184 – $107,892. Employees are eligible for medical benefit programs (health, dental, vision) and other pay differentials.
