Job Purpose

To supervise various facets of forestry operations and forest management, including forest development, silviculture, harvesting, road construction, and planning.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Report to the Operations Superintendent as a member of our operations team.

  • Be a self-motivated, high-performing individual with a bias for action and safe work habits.
  • Participate actively in our safety culture by following all safety rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Manage activities related to harvesting, including supervision of logging, road construction, and log quality.
  • Ensure all harvesting and road construction activities comply with safety, environmental, forestry legislation, and sustainable management practices.
  • Assist with budgeting and managing costs within your responsibilities.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers, Indigenous communities, government agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Swan Valley’s forest certification program.
  • Participate in other projects as needed.
What do I need to be successful?
  • Minimum 3 years of forestry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Safety-conscious attitude.
  • Experience supervising forestry operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Manitoba forestry legislation and policies.
  • Physically capable of fieldwork.
  • Proficient in computer use, forestry software, and GIS applications.
Education
  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry or Environmental Studies.
Work Environment
  • This role involves a blend of fieldwork and office responsibilities.
