Description:

JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy Cashier performs non-technical duties within the pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist. The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service by efficiently handling transactions, answering basic patient inquiries, and assisting with the front-end operations of the pharmacy. This role also supports pharmacy operations by assisting with inventory management tasks, including stocking shelves, checking for expiring medications, and maintaining inventory records. The position requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and coordination with pharmacists and technicians to ensure smooth workflow and patient satisfaction.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education (formal):

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Support Person is required prior to the first day of work and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Follows BOP rule 657-5.14, reporting to the board any change of name, address, place of employment, or employment status within 10 days.

Experience:

• Previous retail or pharmacy experience preferred.

• Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability, and flexibility.
• Proficient mathematical skills.
• Must follow all laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice and support roles.
