Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Forest Maintenance Worker for the Sproul Forest District to care for public lands used by hikers and campers.

You will perform road maintenance, regeneration work, trail care, facility upkeep, sign production, and wildfire protection. This full-time seasonal role runs roughly March through November, with overtime possible for emergencies and no telework option.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Road maintenance: clear culverts, remove debris, clean side ditches, and help maintain forest roadways.
• Regeneration: plant trees, maintain deer fences, operate tractors, and support tree planting projects.
• Trail care: use snowmobiles, ATVs, chainsaws, and hand tools to groom trails and clear brush.
• Facility upkeep: painting, roofing, concrete work, and general building maintenance.
• Sign preparation: operate woodworking tools to build and maintain signs and entrance markers.
• Fire protection: maintain wildfire tools, reduce fire hazards, assist with fire suppression, and communicate with district personnel.
