Job summary

Florida Forest Service, part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, seeks a qualified individual to support forest fire prevention, detection, suppression, and presuppression activities. Responsibilities include operating firefighting equipment, investigating causes, and educating landowners and the public.

Occasional travel, CDL within 3 months, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance are required. A strong commitment to public service is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Clear background and good moral character as determined by state procedures.
• Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 3 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Perform forest fire prevention, detection, suppression, and presuppression duties.
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles as directed.
• Investigate wildfire causes, gather evidence, and report findings to supervisors.
• Provide forestry education and information to landowners and the public.
