Job summary

Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture (MIMTA) is seeking an Analyst to join the II & NCS team, focusing on forest carbon projects, data management, and documentation. The role supports verification, due diligence, and credit sales with strong examplar technical rigor and cross‑functional collaboration.

The Analyst will work with GIS data, Excel analyses, and Python/R to deliver high‑quality outputs, reporting to the Managing Director of II & NCS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 1–2+ years of experience in forest carbon, forestry, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong geospatial and analytical skills with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to automate workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python or R is preferred.
  • Experience with technical writing and standardized documentation.
  • Basic understanding of forest carbon markets and IFM methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support forest carbon project development through technical and data‑driven workstreams under supervision.
  • Gather, organize, and manage geospatial and quantitative datasets (project boundaries, remote sensing).
  • Conduct CPA and related spatial analyses with oversight.
  • Maintain organized geospatial data systems and file structures.
  • Develop maps, figures, and geospatial outputs for project documentation (GHG Plans, PDDs).
  • Populate quantitative/standardized sections of project documentation and ensure consistency.
  • Prepare materials for validation/verification, data rooms and issue tracking logs.
  • Support harvest records compilation and field verification materials.
