Job summary

West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas seeks a Director of Forensics at the rank of Instructor with a master’s degree or Assistant Professor with a Ph.D. The role includes directing and coaching the forensics team, teaching undergraduates in public speaking, argumentation and debate, and participating in professional associations.

Rank and duties evolve with entering rank, including travel and load expectations.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have a Master of Arts in Communication (or related field) or a Juris Doctorate.
• Demonstrated quality teaching experience in debate, oratory, oral interpretation, and basic speech courses.
• Active involvement with hosting speech and debate events and coaching a competitive team.

Responsibilities

• Directing and coaching the forensics team, including competitions, budgeting and travel.
• Teaching undergraduate courses in communication, such as public speaking and debate.
• Engage in discipline-specific professional associations and scholarly activities.
• Support department, college and university through service and outreach.
• Possibly teach graduate courses and advise graduate students.
