Job summary

Bay Area BRG seeks a senior manager to lead complex financial investigations, forensic accounting, asset tracing, and fraud-related matters within the Disputes & Investigations practice. Qualifications

  • Eight+ years of experience in a consulting firm in accounting or audit.
  • CPA certification is required; CFE certification preferred for forensic accounting and investigations.
  • Big 4 consulting experience in investigations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with research software and relational databases; familiarity with data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work products for completeness and accuracy.
  • Plan and manage client engagements from small projects to larger investigations.
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of software tools, analytical methods, and models to develop solutions.
  • Prioritize assignments to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Analyze financial statements, ledgers, tax returns, and other documents to achieve engagement objectives.
  • Prepare expert witness reports and analyses based on research and financial modeling.
  • Perform detailed research and apply results to client deliverables.
  • Analyze historical and projected financial information and develop financial and damage models.
  • Organize case documents, create electronic libraries, and retrieve documents as necessary.
  • Audit own work and team outputs for quality.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participate in group meetings, business development, staff training, recruiting, and office functions.
  • Join a team environment to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior manager to lead complex financial investigations, forensic accounting, asset tracing, and fraud-related matters within BRG’s Disputes & Investigations practice. The role demands a highly motivated problem solver with exceptional analytical skills, strong organizational capabilities, and a desire to advance within a dynamic growing practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delegate assignments to staff, instruct and monitor progress, and review work products for completeness and accuracy.
  • Plan and manage all sizes of client engagements from small projects to larger investigations.
  • Demonstrate creativity and efficient use of relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
  • Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Analyze financial statements, general ledgers, tax returns, and other financial documents to carry out the objectives of the engagement.
  • Manage preparation of expert witness reports, supporting analyses and opinions based on industry research, data analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Perform detailed research and analysis, including review of dispute-related documents and accounting standards, and apply results to client deliverables.
  • Analyze historical and projected financial information and develop financial and damage models.
  • Organize and maintain case documents and folders, create electronic libraries, and retrieve documents as necessary.
  • Audit own work products and those of others to assure quality.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Participate in group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives, staff training, recruiting, and other office functions.
  • Participate in a team environment and meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • CPA required; CFE certification preferred for candidates with forensic accounting and investigations experience.
  • Minimum eight (8+) years of experience working for a consulting firm in an accounting or audit capacity.
  • Big 4 consulting experience in investigations.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, including debits and credits, statement of cash flow, income statement, balance sheet, and trial balance.
  • Proven capability with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with research software such as LexisNexis, Factiva, JSTOR, Bloomberg, and Capital IQ; and/or proficiency with relational database programs (MS SQL Server, MS Access, MySQL, Oracle); and/or statistical analysis programs (SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, Python).
Compensation

Salary Range: $180,000 to $250,000 per year.
