Dallas County seeks a diligent chemist to apply scientific principles and sophisticated instrumentation to determine the presence and concentration of more than 400 drugs, metabolites, poisons, and other toxins in biological fluids and forensic specimens for legal proceedings.

You will ensure evidence integrity, compile final reports for medical examiners and law enforcement, maintain QA/QC programs, train staff, prepare reagents, calibrate equipment, and prioritize a high-volume workload while

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
• Two years of analytical laboratory experience.

Aufgaben

• Perform ~25 complex analytical procedures to identify and quantify drugs, metabolites, poisons, and toxins in biological fluids and forensic specimens.
• Develop and maintain QA/QC programs; assist in validation; train chemists; preserve evidence integrity; select specimens for analysis.
• Prepare reagents and standards; maintain supplies; calibrate, troubleshoot and repair instrumentation.
• Evaluate analytical assays and results for initial reporting.
• Manage high-volume analyses and prioritize bench space with common instrumentation.
• Provide on-call emergency holiday and weekend analytical services as needed by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
