Job summary

TYG is seeking a Structural Forensic Engineer to join its Midwest-based practice, focusing on investigations, condition assessments, and damage-related projects across diverse building types. The role blends fieldwork with technical analysis, offering exposure to forensic investigations, report writing, and client collaboration while supporting growth in a growing forensic engineering practice.

You’ll travel regionally to project sites and contribute to technically challenging investigations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
• PE licence.
• 3-6 years of experience in forensic engineering, structural engineering, building assessment, or related.
• Strong understanding of structural systems, materials, and construction.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest for project site visits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic investigations, structural assessments, and condition evaluations across a variety of building types.
• Investigate structural failures, construction defects, water intrusion, storm damage, and other building-related issues.
• Perform site inspections, document findings, and develop technically sound reports and recommendations.
• Apply structural analysis and engineering judgement to determine the cause and extent of damage or failure.
• Work closely with project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout investigations.
• Manage multiple projects and contribute to the continued growth of the forensic engineering practice.
