Job summary

Ventura County Sheriff's Department is seeking Forensic Scientists at the I–III levels in the Technical Services Bureau / Forensic Sciences Laboratory. The role involves analyzing physical evidence in DNA-related cases, developing methods, preparing reports, and testifying in court.

Qualifications

• One year of professional work experience in a forensic laboratory, preferably in the Forensic Biology/DNA section.
• Three years of professional forensic science work experience for II level.
• Five years of professional forensic science work experience for III level.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory analysis of physical evidence in one or more specialty areas.
• Develops and applies procedures to perform analysis and prepares case reports.
• Testifies in court regarding examination results.
• Maintains and repairs laboratory equipment and safety gear.
• Attends crime scenes after hours and in hazardous conditions.
