Job summary

Baltimore County Police Department—Forensic Services Section—seeks a skilled supervisor to lead unit operations in evidence handling, analysis and reporting. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a forensic-related field and significant experience in forensic analysis and expert testimony, with leadership responsibilities.

You will oversee quality assurance, training, and collaboration with law enforcement while complying with accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or related field is required.
• Alternative bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, digital forensics, cyber security, high technology crime or related field accepted.
• Six years’ experience in forensic analysis or scientific evaluation of evidence, including expert testimony.
• Professional certifications may substitute education as noted in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Establishes procedures for accountability and integrity of evidence and case records.
• Develops and maintains unit-specific manuals and ensures proper training.
• Supervises the analysis processes, reports, and quality assurance across units.
• Monitors budget, human resources, and productivity for the Forensic Services Section.
• Maintains communication with external partners to support the Section’s mission.
