Job summary

The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to provide patient care in a hospital division. The role supports nursing and treatment staff by assisting patients with daily needs, communicating patient symptoms, and aiding in treatment activities.

Ideal candidates have ADL experience and healthcare exposure, with mandatory High School Diploma, valid New Mexico driver's license, and defensive driving certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver's License.
• Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
• SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS—employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, background checks, and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patients with Activities of Daily Living, including cuing people to eat, shower, and attend activities.
• Assist in crisis situations and help de-escalate patients who may be symptomatic and agitated.
• Monitor all patients and ensure safety—including checks at intervals up to and including one-to-one.
• Provide feedback to the nursing staff and treatment team regarding observed symptoms.
• Ensure the environment is clean and comfortable for all patients.
