Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services seeks a Forensic Officer II at the Oklahoma Forensic Center in Vinita. You will join a security team tasked with safeguarding a 24/7 inpatient forensic facility, patrolling, enforcing rules, and handling emergencies to ensure safe operations.

Open to 2 vacancies, with an hourly payrate of $17.78 and shifts from 6:30am–3:00pm or 2:30pm–11:00pm. Applicants must pass an OSBI background check and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Basic security and/or firefighter's course completed.
• Two years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and grounds to eliminate fire hazards and enforce laws.
• Patrol assigned premises to identify and correct hazards; assist staff and move consumers safely within the facility.
• Monitor security cameras, transport consumers to appointments, respond to medical emergencies.

About the Position:

Come grow with us! The Oklahoma Forensic Center (OFC) located in Vinita, OK is a 24

hour/365 day secure inpatient forensic facility that provides jail competency services for the

State of Oklahoma. Currently, OFC has 268 beds for consumers who have been found

Incompetent for adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.

About the position:

Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Security department is hiring for a Forensic Officer that would be assigned responsibilities at an inpatient behavioral health facility that may include, but not limited to, the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security against acts of terrorism. This may include patrolling assigned premise to identify and correct fire hazards, providing assistance to employees, directing traffic, monitoring security cameras, performing walks of the units, assisting staff with the movement of consumers within the facility to assure safety, transporting consumers to appointments, off grounds if needed and responds and assists with medical emergencies or other calls from units.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a basic security and/or firefighter's course and two years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work.

Special Requirements:

• Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.

• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver's license.

• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 60 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.
