Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Forensic Officer I to join the Oklahoma Forensic Center Security team. Responsibilities include inspecting premises for fire hazards, enforcing laws, and ensuring safety across inpatient behavioral health facilities.

Typical hours are 6:30am-3:00pm, 2:30pm-11:00pm, or 11:00pm-7:00am with a non-exempt status and a starting hourly rate of $16.60 for Level I, with applicable shift differentials.

Job Description

Here at the Oklahoma Forensic Center the Security department is hiring Forensic Officers that would be assigned responsibilities at an inpatient behavioral health facility. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, inspection of buildings and grounds for fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations, and providing security against acts of terrorism. Duties include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards, providing assistance to employees, directing traffic, monitoring security cameras, performing walks of units, assisting staff with movements of consumers within the facility to assure safety, transporting consumers to appointments, off‑grounds if needed, and responding to medical emergencies or other calls from the units.

  • Hourly rate: Level I – $16.60

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Level I – No experience or education required.
Special Requirements
  • Must pass an OSBI background check.
  • Must be willing and able to fulfill any job‑related travel normally associated with this position and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the required physical examination requirements, including occasionally lifting/carrying 60 pounds and being able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.

Drug and Alcohol Pre‑employment and Pre‑placement Testing

Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants for safety‑sensitive positions shall be required to submit to urinalysis to test for drugs. Appointment to a safety‑sensitive position shall be contingent upon a negative drug test result.

Note

24‑hour coverage is required; work hours and location may vary depending on business necessity. Employees may be required to work weekends and overtime.
