Job summary

Luminis Health in Annapolis is seeking a Forensic Nurse Examiner to provide specialized medical-forensic examinations for sexual assault victims, delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care and precise documentation.

The role includes performing complete exams, obtaining histories, collecting evidence with chain of custody, coordinating with law enforcement and prosecutors, and supporting patients with resources.

Qualifications

• BSN graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• 2 years of clinical experience as RN.
• Ability to work autonomously with strong communication and customer service; collaborate with multi-disciplinary team.
• Rotating on-call shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to patients with a complaint of sexual assault utilizing the nursing process.
• Perform a complete medical forensic exam including obtaining a detailed history and head-to-toe assessment.
• Complete documentation of the forensic record including digital photography for injuries.
• Maintain chain of custody for evidence collection according to regulatory guidelines.
• Administer and/or oversee medications per program protocol.
• Provide emotional and social support resources.
• Maintain expertise in medical forensic exams, trauma-informed care, laws and evidence procedures.
• Participate in professional development, community education, and staff meetings.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, state's attorney, crime lab; provide expert testimony as required.
