Job summary

RI Council 94 seeks a Mental Health Worker to provide direct care in a Rhode Island state hospital setting. You will support severely mentally disabled patients, assist with treatment plans, and help maintain a therapeutic milieu under registered nurse supervision.

Responsibilities include patient observation, daily living support, safety checks and collaboration with clinicians to implement care plans. Forensic setting experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of custody, care and treatment of psychiatric patients in a forensic setting.
• Ability to supervise patients and maintain order in a therapeutic context.
• Ability to collaborate with the treatment team and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and treatment to severely mentally disabled patients in a forensic setting.
• Interact with patients, offer support and feedback as part of the treatment team.
• Assist with treatment plans, wake, bathe, feed and prepare patients for visitors and activities.
• Ensure safety, observe and report unusual behavior and manage infection control measures.
• Escort staff and patients on wards and participate in routine housekeeping and environment safety.
