Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Forensic Engineering Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our forensic engineering team. This leadership role combines technical oversight, personnel management, client relationship management, resource planning, and operational leadership to ensure investigations are delivered with the highest level of quality, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

Working in a fast-paced consulting environment, the Forensic Engineering Manager provides leadership to a growing team of engineers while balancing changing project priorities, client needs, and operational demands. This position requires a dynamic leader who is equally comfortable mentoring engineers, managing resources, solving complex technical challenges, building strong client relationships, and driving operational efficiency.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, this position serves as the primary leader for the forensic engineering team, ensuring engineers have the guidance, resources, and support needed to consistently deliver high-quality investigations while developing professionally. The Forensic Engineering Manager works closely with project coordination and executive leadership to optimize workload, improve processes, and maintain exceptional client service.

The ideal candidate is a licensed professional engineer with strong technical credibility, proven leadership experience, exceptional organizational skills and communication skills, and a passion for developing people, building high-performing teams, and continuously improving operations.

What You’ll Do
Engineering Leadership & Personnel Management
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a growing team of forensic engineers.
  • Manage staffing, workload distribution, and day-to-day engineering resources to maximize efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, career development planning, and ongoing coaching.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the engineering team.
  • Build future leaders by identifying strengths, delegating responsibility, and supporting professional growth.
  • Serve as the first point of escalation for engineering personnel issues, technical questions, and workload conflicts.
Operational Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operational performance of the forensic engineering group.
  • Balance engineering resources across changing project priorities and client demands.
  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Partner with project coordination to proactively manage staffing, scheduling, and project execution.
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to utilization, project delivery, quality, and team performance.
  • Help build scalable systems that support continued growth of the forensic practice.
  • Develop trusted relationships with attorneys, insurance carriers, adjusters, contractors, architects, property owners, and commercial clients.
  • Participate in technically complex client discussions and project strategy meetings.
  • Support business development efforts by providing technical insight and responsive client service.
  • Represent the firm with professionalism, confidence, and sound engineering judgment.
What You Bring
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, civil, or a related field.
Licensure
  • Professional licensure in engineering or architecture is preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive technical experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive technical personnel management experience
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams, technical staff, or field personnel.
  • Experience managing personnel, allocating resources, and balancing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong operational leadership experience with responsibility for staffing, scheduling, workflow, or project delivery.
  • Experience building and maintaining client relationships in a consulting environment.
  • Proven ability to lead through changing priorities and competing deadlines.

Firm

We are a high computer-use office, so being comfortable and skilled at general computer, phone, and tablet use really sets you up for success. Some months are busier than others, so successfully managing a fluctuating workload, while staying organized, is a must to help us meet our client’s deadlines.

Work Location:

Work to be performed in office. Candidate must be local to Dallas, TX. Core working hours are between 8 AM and 5 PM Central Time. This position does require the ability to travel to and from out of town job sites, typically throughout Texas and surrounding states.
