Job summary

HKA Birmingham is seeking an experienced Forensic Electrical Engineer to lead investigations, develop expert opinions, and provide testimony in complex claims, arbitration, and litigation matters. This role focuses on power systems, data centers, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure, with high autonomy and impact on outcomes.

You will collaborate with renowned experts, travel for site inspections and depositions, and deliver defensible technical reports to attorneys and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Expert witness experience including depositions, arbitration, and trial testimony.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience including forensic consulting.
• Experience investigating electrical failures, defects and complex disputes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze electrical systems, failures, construction issues, and deficiencies.
• Conduct forensic investigations and root cause analyses of power and I&C systems.
• Develop independent technical findings and expert opinions.
• Prepare forensic and expert witness reports.
• Support attorneys, insurers and clients in disputes and litigation.
• Review designs, docs, operating records, and standards.
• Serve as a testifying expert in mediation, deposition, arbitration and litigation.
• Communicate complex findings clearly to legal and non-technical audiences.
