Job summary

ELMHS Community Forensics Services Department seeks a passionate officer to provide direct services to clients in Regions 1, 9, and 10, including home visits and regular communication with the court, attorneys, probation officer and other entities providing services, and facilitating competency restoration services in jail and in the community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree plus four years of behavioral health treatment experience; or
• JD plus three years of behavioral health treatment experience; or
• Licensed LMSW/LCSW/CSW plus three years of behavioral health treatment experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct, organize, evaluate, coordinate, and supervise the Forensic Conditional Release Program for the target population probated under La.C.Crm.P. 657.1 (Act 800).
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the development of programs and services for individuals with mental illness under supervision or custody of the Criminal Justice system.
• Organize and maintain records, prepare correspondence and reports, and coordinate data from providers, courts, and other sources.
• Provide technical assistance, training and consultation to agency staff, contract providers, sheriffs, probation, judges and coroner personnel.
• Monitor and evaluate service delivery quality and progress, and propose policy revisions as needed.
• Identify development needs and resources for training in identified areas.

The Community Forensics Services Department is seeking a passionate officer who will provide direct services to clients in Regions 1, 9, and 10, including home visits, regular communication with the court, attorneys, probation officer and other entities providing services, and facilitating competency restoration services in jail and in the community.

Minimum Qualifications

• A master’s degree in a social science field, social work, behavioral health field, public health, education, or health administration plus four years of experience providing behavioral health treatment; OR
• A Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience providing behavioral health treatment; OR
• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW) plus three years of experience providing behavioral health treatment.

Job Duties

• Direct, organize, evaluate, coordinate, and supervise the Forensic Conditional Release Program for the target population probated under La.C.Crm.P. 657.1 (Act 800) for LDH in the assigned region(s).
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the development of programs and services for individuals with mental illness who are under the supervision of, or in the custody of, the Criminal Justice system, including, but not limited to, jail-based competency restoration cases, civil committees, and Conditional Release cases.
• Organize and maintain records, prepare correspondence and reports, and coordinate all data from private providers, public providers, courts, and various other sources pertaining to assigned program responsibility, including, but not limited to, Conditional Release cases.
• Provide technical assistance, training and consultation regarding proper procedures and legal requirements to agency staff, contract providers (physicians, psychologists, nurses and social workers), Sheriffs, State Probation, Judges and Coroners and other personnel of the Criminal Justice System regarding delivery of services to individuals with mental illness who are under the supervision of or in the custody of the Criminal Justice System.
• Monitor and evaluate the quality plans for service delivery and progress of program goals and objectives and formulate corrective action. Recommend revision of program standards and agency policy, as necessary.
• Identify development needs and resources to develop or coordinate training in the areas where there is an identified need for this population.
