Job summary

The Macon-Bibb County Consolidated Government is seeking a Crime Scene Technician to assist the Forensics Division in investigating crime scenes, collecting and preserving evidence, and providing testimony as needed. The role encompasses documentation, photography, and collaboration with deputies and investigators.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate degree preferred and at least three years of crime scene investigation experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Criminal Justice or coursework in crime scene investigation preferred.
• Three years experience in crime scene investigation preferred.
• Official transcripts and diploma must be provided.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations at crime scenes including robberies, homicides, and major accidents.
• Collect, preserve, and transport physical evidence.
• Document scenes with photographs and videos.
• Write detailed crime reports and furnish exhibits for court.
• Testify as an expert witness in court.
• Attend continuing education to stay current on procedures.
• Travel to various sites as required.
