Job summary

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) seeks a psychologist to perform clinical interviewing and standardized testing, with responsibility for evaluating emotional and intellectual functioning of individuals in custody. The incumbent will maintain SOAP records, prepare reports, and consult with psychiatrists and judges on diagnoses and dispositions.

Under supervision, the psychologist may testify in court and participate in staff conferences.

Qualifications

• Completion of doctoral study and graduate coursework as required for psychology licensure.
• Experience in clinical interviewing, testing and behavioral assessment.
• Eligibility for licensure as a psychologist in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate emotional and intellectual functioning of individuals.
• Maintain records and SOAP notes; prepare analytical reports.
• Consult with psychiatrists, social workers, judges and others regarding diagnoses and disposition.
• Participate in psychological and staff conferences; prepare case write-ups.
• May testify in court or at hearings if required.
