Job summary

Western Underground, Inc. in the Phoenix area is seeking an experienced Full-Time Wet Utility Foreman to supervise and actively participate in installing underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This is a hands-on leadership role.

You will lead field crews, operate heavy equipment, read plans, perform take-offs, and ensure safety and quality to meet project specs. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a foreman or lead in wet utility construction.
  • Working foreman willing to perform hands-on installation work.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment and reading construction plans.
  • HVAC safety and OSHA standards knowledge is implied by certification requirements.

Job description

Western Underground, Inc. is seeking an experienced Full-Time Wet Utility Foreman to join our growing team. We specialize in the installation of underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. We are looking for a motivated leader who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and leading by example. The Wet Utility Foreman is responsible for supervising and actively participating in the installation of underground wet utilities. This is a working foreman position, requiring hands‑on involvement in daily operations, including operating heavy equipment and assisting the crew with installation activities. The successful candidate will ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 yearly

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead field crews in the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Work alongside the crew and operate heavy equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, and specifications.
  • Perform accurate material take-offs and assist with project planning.
  • Ensure all trenching, excavation, shoring, bedding, pipe installation, testing, and backfilling operations are completed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, project specifications, and company standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with M.A.G. Specifications and applicable city supplements.
  • Schedule and coordinate daily work activities to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a safe jobsite and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings and job hazard assessments.
  • Maintain quality workmanship and ensure installations meet company and municipal standards.
  • Communicate effectively with superintendents, inspectors, project managers, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Represent Western Underground professionally at all times.
  • Complete required daily reports and project documentation.
  • Train and mentor crew members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience as a foreman or lead in wet utility construction. Extensive experience installing underground water, sewer, and storm drain systems. Must be a working foreman willing and able to perform hands‑on installation work. Experience operating backhoes, excavators, loaders, and other construction equipment. Thorough knowledge of M.A.G. Specifications and city supplements. Ability to read construction plans and perform material take-offs. OSHA 10 Certification (minimum required). Willing and able to obtain an OSHA 30 certification. Competent Person Certification. Laser level and grade control knowledge. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid Arizona Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
